World Premiere of Scott McAllister's "Concerto Americana"

September 25, 2015

We had an exhilarating evening performing the World Premiere of Scott McAllister's new "Concerto Americana" with Dr. David Waybright conducting the University of Florida Wind Ensemble at the University of Florida. The piece brought the house down; the audience went crazy! It was incredibly special for us to have Scott McAllister there to work with us and attend the performance.  We are additionally grateful to have such a wonderful ensemble to perform with.

We headed up the commission for this new piece, which has been a year in the making. With the assitance of Dr. Waybright, the University of Florida, and 10 other University Wind Ensembles, we were able to bring this project to fruition.

Concerto Americana is inspired by American Dance themes such as the Lawrence Welk Show, Esquivel's Space Age Bachelor Pad, and Moon Hootch. It is a wild, virtuosic, double concerto which is incredibly fun to listen to (and perform, we might add)!  We can't wait to do it again!
